Brian knows that Claire is lonely. That's why she's always coming up with things for him to come fix in her apartment, things that mysteriously seem to work fine once he gets there. She's a sweet old lady, if a bit rough around the edges, and he feels like he can't turn her down when she asks him to stay for a beer.
